huntington library and gardens

On Monday we visited the Huntington Library and Gardens with friends.  We never fail to discover something new.  Beneath this massive magnolia on the left was a floor of thick twisty roots and led to the   pond on the other side.  The kids played around in there, climbing, collecting, and having fun until the gardener said it was off limits.  Really?  So, we moved on.

With acres and acres of grass, trails, and beautifully maintained gardens, the kids can freely run and explore (except when the gardeners tell you to move on, which is not that often).

The rose garden is in full bloom!  There was much excitement over the variety of colors and strong fragrances.  An over enthusiastic Henry ran right through some bushes, miraculously with only one scratch.

We renewed our membership along with our friends since this paradise is only a 20 minute drive.
We are fortunate to have such a beautiful and educational place to escape to once in a while.  We will return this weekend for the annual plant sale!  Succulents galore!
