drawing challenge / nature

Nature is often more pronounced and beautiful when contrasted with what is manmade.
From the 20th floor of our apartment here in Chicago we have an amazing view of the massive skyscrapers, stunning in their architecture and awesome height.  The view wouldn't be quite as beautiful though without the emerald river that runs through it and the vast Lake Michigan in the distance. The thriving gardens and parks thoughtfully planted around the city bring a contrast to this concrete jungle that is calming, soft, and alive.  What would we do without Nature?  How would we feel?  How could we live?

Dear Rachel,
so nice to see you here at the dc again! Gosh, I have missed your delicate, humorous, lovely, vivid drawings(even when I own that beautiful abs of trees by you)!
I like your view on Chicago... very much, with its bigger trees.
Yes, what were we without nature, depite that we are nature, too. But a life without water and plants... so grim to me.
Lovely to see your kiddos!so vivid and confident. Marvellous!

Love
xo Ariane.

hey!
you drew!
yes, babes...
contrasts are fancy. i cannot begin to imagine how i'd feel, waking up amongst sky scrapers. it'd be ... different. and it'd certainly pull me towards greens too.
thxs for playing, rachel.

What a wonderful drawing :) and I have often thought about the contrast between what is man made and what is "natural" The contrast between the two is always poignant!

20 floors is way high up there Rachel! I think really, an excellent perch to contemplate Nature. Yes, the contrast of man made and nature made can be examined from a multitude of starting points. It is a real yin/yang of life. I like these photographs very much. N, xo

it's in men's nature to built as high as possible though i can't imagine quite how it must feel to live on the 20th floor.
your awesome pictures give me an impression and yes my eyes would often search for the green and the river and the lake.

your drawing fits your words so well, 'what would we do without it?'

missed your great drawings dear Rachel, xx
