here we are

Fortunately LAX was practically empty.
Going through security with two kids and a dog was no picnic.
But everyone cooperated.  Greta was in charge of Ollie which helped tremendously.

The flight was just over 3 hours long and the plane was only half full.
We roamed around a bit.
We arrived just as the sun was setting.  We settled into our "executive suite" in the Warehouse District.
We are here for about 3 weeks, then we move into a cozier neighborhood.

We stayed close to home today, only venturing out to walk Ollie and pick up coffee.  The neighborhood is rich in texture and history.  Most of these old warehouses have been converted into lofts, galleries, condos, restaurants.  It's amazing to see how amongst all of the steel, bricks, and concrete around here, nature shines through.  You just have to look for it and it can be found in the most interesting places.  I can't wait to get my camera out there.

 We found a fountain.

Henry felt inspired to draw some lanky characters.

We brought a few friends with us.

Today we rested.  Well, I did.  The kids ran around like wild banshees.  I wish I had half of their energy.
Tomorrow we hope to head to the park via the St. Charles street car.

Hello, Rachel with kids in NOLA,
thank you for the pictures.
Your kids look like professional city-jumper, amazing. So have a nice cup of coffee and arrive.
Hugs
