guest blogger, me!

About a month ago I was emailed by Charity.   Her blog was new to me and I was so happy to meet her.  We have kids the same age, they unschool, she's been living happily in rural bliss and her family has made the decision to move into the city.  Not an easy choice.  I know, I cried for two weeks after moving into Los Angeles from beautiful Ojai.  Alas, I grew to appreciate and make the most of city life.  I would be miserable if I focused only on what I was missing.  This is where Charity is. What attracted her to my blog was her search for other urban homeschooling families.  She asked me to be a guest blogger on her blog.  Naturally I said yes and was completely flattered and honored, so I got to work on it right away.  It took me a few weeks but I finally finished it.  I felt a huge responsibility to get it right as I reflected on what makes city life good for us right now.  It  brought up conversation among other parents in similar circumstances, and refreshed my perspective of this city we call home.

Charity values the qualities of creativity and imagination in her kids beyond anything else and I so admire her feelings and agree wholeheartedly.  We're on the same page on many levels.  I very much enjoy her blog and I think you will too.

See me as the Guest Blogger here!

I just read your guest post over at indietutes. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to the beauty of the city. My family will be moving in about a year (where ever the air force sends us) and now I think I might be ready for anywhere :)

Rachel, what a great post! I guess I have been unschooling Lily and not even being aware of it. I think it's the way to go. I guess the next thing to do is to get together and find a larger network of moms who are doing the same where we live.
