king cake

We have been seeing these King Cakes everywhere.  I hadn't a clue of their significance until just now researching wikipedia.  Naturally, these cakes have a rich pagan history.  Zach brought this King Cake cupcake home from work tonight.  The plastic baby sticking out of the top was highly intriguing.

I've never heard of King Cakes.

Isn't that baby a choking hazard?

In Mexico every January 6 we celebrate with King Cakes(Rosca de Reyes) it's delicious! and the plastic baby represents Jesus, so if the baby appears in your piece of Rosca you have to buy some tamales for Dia de la Candelaria(Februay 2nd).
still having fun! :)

Gotta love Wikipedia. I appreciate so much being able to learn about anything within seconds of looking it up.
